Arsene Wenger has admitted he had to field questions about his tactics after Arsenal’s defeat against Manchester United last week…from his own squad.

The Gunners dominated against the Red Devils at the Emirates last Saturday but lost 3-1 to Jose Mourinho’s men.

Wenger’s used a back three system since the end of last season but he reverted to a back four for the Gunners’ Europa League clash with Bate Borisov on Thursday.

And the Frenchman’s admitted his own squad raised question marks about his tactics this week but insists he makes the final decisions.

‘Everybody has a little bit his own analysis but mine counts!’ said Wenger.

‘We analysed it in a very objective way. We had a very strong creative performance and a poor defensive performance.

‘When you have a defeat like that, a disappointment like that, you try to analyse it straight away with the players to get it out of the system and focus on what is in front of you.

‘Is it out of their system? I feel in our job there is always in the next game you can show that you have digested and focused on what is in front of you.’

Arsenal travel to the south coast to take on Southampton on Sunday and will be hoping to get their top four hopes back on track.

Shkodran Mustafi is set to miss the trip after limping out of the defeat against United last weekend.
