Liverpool can expect an approach for Mohamed Salah from Real Madrid this summer, predicts Garth Crooks.

The Egyptian has been sensational since joining from Roma last summer.

At the weekend he scored four against Watford to take his tally to 36 goals in 41 appearances for the Reds.

Crooks believes Real Madrid will try to prise Salah away from Anfield this summer, such is their habit for recruiting the best talent on the planet.

‘Everything this man touches seems to turn to gold. Thirty-six goals in 41 appearances for Liverpool is quite extraordinary. Former Liverpool greats like Peter Thompson and Steve Heighway never got anywhere near that return,’ Crooks told the BBC.

‘Liverpool fans may have to brace themselves, however, for an audacious bid from Real Madrid in the summer. This lad is having the same impact across Europe as Gareth Bale had in his final season at Tottenham. And we all know what happened after that.’

Liverpool, who bought Salah for £30million, could command a fee of at least £150m according to Tony Cottee.

‘[Philippe] Coutinho went for £146m and I think Liverpool would want a similar amount to even consider it [selling Salah],” Cottee told Sky Sports.

‘Even then, he has only just arrived at Liverpool, has had a fantastic season, so would he want to leave at the moment?

‘Liverpool are looking to build and move things and if they can beat Man City, they will fancy themselves in the Champions League.

‘There’s a lot going on at the football club and I don’t think Mo Salah will want to leave but, if he did, I think they would want at least £150m for him.’
