Amazon Studios Ends Open Call For Script Submissions

If you were thinking of submitting your original script to Amazon Studios, I have some bad news for you. Amazon announced that they are ending their open call for script and concept submissions.

The studio born out of the e-commerce giant made the announcement on their website on Friday. Launched in 2010, the open submission program allowed aspiring writers to submit their scripts and concepts for TV and film, giving them the chance to become the next best thing in Hollywood.

“As we have grown and evolved over the last several years, we are making changes to our website and closing our open call for script and concept submissions,” said the statement on Amazons website. “As of April 13, 2018, we are no longer accepting submissions.”

The scripts and concepts received before the end date will still be reviewed and evaluated by Amazon Studios and will be available on our website until June 30. Amazon said they will respond to all submissions and that they will still provide Storybuilder as a useful tool for screenwriters.

The end of the crowdsourced script program comes months after Amazon Studios founder Roy Price resigned from the company for sexual harassment allegations. He was replaced by former NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke as the new head of Amazon Studios.
