Former FBI Director James Comeys first late-night TV interview since being sacked by President Donald Trump logged big numbers for Stephen Colberts Late Show.
Colbert clocked a 3.5 household rating, topping all late-night competitors; in the target 18-49 demo, he posted a 0.6 rating, also topping that derby.
Thats his third highest overnight household rating ever, marking his biggest lead over NBCs The Tonight Show (1.7) since Colberts CBS launch in September of 2015.
In the demo, Colbert tied his highest rated Tuesday this season.
Comey, who is touring to promote his new book “A Higher Loyalty” drank wine with Colbert while the late night host explained to him that Trump canned him because mafia bosses dont like being investigated. Comey, in turn, asked Colbert, who famously booked the presidential suite at the Moscow Ritz Carlton where Trumps alleged Pee Pee Taping took place, if the room was big enough to have accommodated that activity, given that Trump is a germaphobe. Colbert assured him it was plenty big enough to have kept Trump in the “splash-free zone” if, as has been rumored, he shared the room with two hookers who engaged in urinating on the bed where former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama had spent the night while visiting Moscow.
