CJ 4DPLEX & Cineworld Group Expand Pact To Boost Number Of 4DX Theaters – CinemaCon

CJ 4DPLEX is expanding its partnership with Cineworld Group PLC, the worlds second-largest exhibitor, to add an additional 145 4DX screens across Cineworld theaters including 79 Regal Entertainment locations in the U.S and 20 Cineworld/Cinema City International theaters in Europe and the Middle East.

The news comes on the heels of 4D cinema company CJ 4DPLEX — which offers an immersive moviegoing experience that includes motion seats and environmental effects — reaching 500 4DX locations this month. Currently, there are six Regal 4DX locations in the U.S., with the rollout plan expanding from 15 theaters to 79. Confirmed markets include Atlanta, Chicago, Jacksonville, FL, Honolulu, Philadelphia, Houston, Irvine, CA, Nashville, Miami and San Diego.

“The success we have seen so far in this with this partnership has been outstanding and we expect our moviegoers will continue to seek out the newest titles in 4DX. Being at the edge of cinema exhibition is always a goal and working with CJ 4DPLEX is one of the ways we can deliver future-thinking cinema experiences to our audience members,” said Mooky Greidinger, CEO of Cineworld Group.

The deal will bring to 60 the number of 4DX locations across Cineworld and Cinema City-branded theaters.
