Donald Trump Tweets Damage Control After Rudy Giulianis Hannity Interview

President Donald Trump took to Twitter this morning to mop up after new legal-team member Rudy Giulianis stunning interview previous night on Fox News Channel Hannity.

In that interview, Giuliani seemed to surprise even Hannity when he boasted no campaign finance laws were violated because Trump used his own money to pay back attorney Michael Cohen for his $130K payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. Cohen paid the cash to Stormy to keep her quiet about her claims of an affair with Trump more than a decade ago.

“That money that was paid by his lawyer, the president reimbursed that over the period of several months,” Giuliani said told Hannity. The payment, he insisted, is “perfectly legal” because the money used was not campaign money.

Except Trump had told an Air Force One full of reporters he had no knowledge of Cohens payment to Daniels. TV pundits feasted on the headline making interview for hours this morning, as Trump tweeted mop-up:

“Mr. Cohen, an attorney, received a monthly retainer, not from the campaign and having nothing to do with the campaign, from which he entered into, through reimbursement, a private contract between two parties, known as a non-disclosure agreement, or NDA,” Trump tweeted long-windedly.

“These agreements are very common among celebrities and people of wealth,” Trump insisted. “In this case it is in full force and effect and will be used in Arbitration for damages against Ms. Clifford [Daniels]. The agreement was used to stop the false and extortionist accusations made by her about an affair, despite already having signed a detailed letter admitting that there was no affair,” Trump continued.

“Prior to its violation by Ms. Clifford and her attorney, this was a private agreement. Money from the campaign, or campaign contributions, played no roll [sic] in this transaction.”
