Hoverbike to fight crime in Dubai

Dubai: The new crime-fighting “hoverbike” is part of the remarkable display of advanced technology unveiled by Dubai Police at the Gitex Technology Week 2018.

The new flying bike can be used for responding to emergency situations, said a Dubai Police officer.

Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, director of the AI Department in Dubai Police, said the hoverbike was upgraded after displaying it in Gitex 2017.

“It works on electricity and can fly at five metres height and carry a policeman during emergency situations and heavy traffic. The bike can also fly without a passenger and can go up to 96km/h. It can fly for 25 minutes with a pilot and for 40 minutes when controlled by an operator,” Brigadier Al Razooqi said.

The hoverbike can be used for quick response to traffic accidents and emergencies.

Tethered Indigo drone

Dubai Police revealed a drone by Tethered Indigo System which can fly for 45 days and send live HD images to the command room.

The drone can climb up to a height of 50 meters with HD and thermos cameras and cover 5km of land. The drone, which needs an operator, can be used in varied situations including sea rescues and securing of borders.

Rased Project

Dubai police revealed a smart glasses called Rased with face recognition technology to spot suspects and wanted people.

“It is a creative glasses with face recognition technology to identify suspects and wanted people. The glasses use the data base in the command room to analyse faces and send notification to officers. It can be used in places with no cameras and to secure events,” Captain Ali Saif Al Ramsy from Operations Department in Dubai Police said.
