Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency educates Janadriyah visitors about counterfeit money

JEDDAH: The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agencys (SAMA) pavilion at the 33rd Janadriyah Festival attracted a huge number of visitors, as the agency sought to educate people about counterfeit currency bills. SAMA representatives at the festival explained different ways to identify fake currency notes.
In addition, several ancient coins belonging to different Islamic periods and countries were put on display. Visitors to the pavilion took great interest in the coins used even before the advent of Islam such as the Sassanid dirhams and the Byzantine dinars. The pavilion shared different information about the coins on display.
The festival is an annual celebration of Saudi heritage and culture. In addition to the events in the capital, poetry nights and other cultural activities are also underway throughout the Kingdom as part of the festival, along with special events at literary and cultural clubs in Jeddah, Najran and Dammam.
Indonesia is the guest of honor country at this years festival. Dr. Alwi Shihab, the Indonesian presidents special envoy to the Middle East and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), told Arab News that it was a “privilege” for his nation to be invited by Saudi Arabia to take part in the event, and said it would further strengthen the bond between the two countries.
