Karnataka seals border and will screen domestic air passengers

BENGALURU: Karnataka government on Sunday announced the closure of all its border and will screen all domestic air passengers as part of the measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.
The state has reported 20 positive cases of Covid-19 including two from the border districts of Kalaburagi and Chikkaballapur.
The decision to seal the border was taken during an emergency meeting presided by chief minister B S Yediyurappa and attended by noted cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty, deputy CM Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, home minister Basavaraj Bommai, medical education minister Dr Sudhakar and members of the task force on Covid-19.
“Movement of people has be to restricted to stop the virus from spreading, teams have been deployed at the border check-posts to screen all motorists,” a home department officials said. The CM also requested those residing in cities not to visit villages for the next two weeks as part of the break-the-chain strategy to contain the spread of the virus.
