CHENNAI: Two days after a gas leak from LG Polymers killed 10 people in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the company on Saturday apologised for the tragedy and assured the affected families of “every support.”
In a statement released through the consulate-general of the Republic of Korea in Chennai on Saturday, the company said it would closely work with authorities in India to investigate the cause of the incident.
“Our initial investigations suggest that the cause of the incident is prima facie by the leaking vapour from styrene monomer (SM) storage tank near the General Purpose Poly Styrene factory on Thursday,” said the statement.
“Our teams are working day and night with the government to assess the impact of the damage caused and create concrete measures to deliver an effective care package that can be implemented immediately,” it said.
