Govt asks Priyanka to vacate bungalow by Aug 1; cites withdrawal of SPG cover

NEW DELHI: The Central government on Wednesday cancelled the allotment of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's official accommodation and asked her to vacate the bungalow by August 1 following the withdrawal of her SPG protection.
In its order, the ministry of housing and urban affairs said that since Priyanka's security has been downgraded to Z+ with CRPF cover on all-India basis, she is no more entitled to a 6B type bungalow.
Priyanka Gandhi currently lives in a Type 6B government house on Lodhi Road.

The government order says that if Priyanka does not vacate the bungalow by August 1, she will have to pay penal rent as per the rules. As per records, she has accumulated dues of Rs 3,46,677- as on June, 30 2020.
Priyanka Gandhi has been issued the notice to clear these dues and rent for the period she vacates the accommodation.
The government had in November last year replaced the Special Protection Group (SPG) cover of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, with Z-plus security by the CRPF.
