On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Daily Beast Politics Editor Sam Stein argued that Democrats wouldn’t have called for Senator Al Franken’s (D-MN) resignation before the Ethics Committee investigated Franken if Minnesota’s governor was a Republican.
While discussing Franken’s resignation and Democrats calling for Franken’s resignation before the Ethics Committee investigated Franken, co-host Joe Scarborough said due process was “swept aside” with Franken because of the Alabama Senate race.
Stein responded, “And not only that, they wouldn’t have done it if the governor of Minnesota was a Republican, let’s be honest.”
Scarborough agreed, stating that Franken would still be in the Senate if Minnesota’s governor was a Republican.
Later on, Stein argued that Franken’s problem wasn’t that “the system screwed him. He screwed himself.”
