On Tuesday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) declared that he has spoken with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and DACA will not be considered this week as part of a deal to avoid a government shutdown and DACA will be discussed next year.
McConnell said [relevant remarks begin around 5:00] there will not be a government shutdown because neither side wants one and a deal will be worked out.
Anchor Bret Baier then asked McConnell, “Is DACA on the table?”
McConnell responded, “Senator Schumer and I have already discussed this. No, we’ll not be doing DACA this week. That’s a matter to be discussed next year. The president’s given us until March to address that issue. We have plenty of time to do that.”
