Alexis Sanchez will start on the bench for Arsenal‘s League Cup semi-final first leg against Chelsea after being dropped by Arsene Wenger.

The Chilean was rested for Arsenal’s 4-2 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the third round of the FA Cup but Alex Iwobi has been given the nod ahead of him, in a move that will only increase the speculation around the Chilean’s future.

Ozil has missed Arsenal’s last two games with a knee injury and he hasn’t recovered in time to form part of tonight’s squad.

Danny Welbeck retains his spot from the Forest defeat and will play off of Alexandre Lacazette.

Chelsea have welcomed Eden Hazard back into the fold after the Belgian limped out of the draw against the Gunners with a calf injury.

Antonio Conte decided not to risk Hazard in the side’s 0-0 draw with Norwich City in the FA Cup third round but he’s been deemed fit to start tonight.

Elsewhere, Alvaro Morata starts up top where he’ll be hoping to rectify his performance in last week’s draw, where he missed three gilt-edged chances to win it for the Blues.

Andreas Christensen has returned in defence but Gary Cahill misses out. N’Golo Kante is paired in midfield with Danny Drinkwater.
