Barcelona have confirmed Nelson Semedo is out for five weeks after suffering a hamstring strain against Girona on February 24.

Ernesto Valverde’s side cruised to an easy 6-1 victory over Girona, a game which saw Luis Suarez also bag a hat-trick.

However, it wasn’t all good news for the Spanish side as both Semedo and Gerard Pique were forced off the pitch with injury concerns.

Semedo is set to miss the crunch second leg against Premier League side Chelsea in the Champions League on March 14. He’s also set to miss league fixtures against Atletico Madrid, Las Palmas and Malaga, along with Espanyol in the Copa Del Rey.

Barcelona, who are currently 10 points clear at the top of the league, face Las Palmas next on March 1.
