Robert Lewandowski has agreed to join Real Madrid this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Bayern Munich striker is set to force his way out of Bayern Munich and his agent has met with prospective suitors in recent months.

Chelsea and Manchester United are thought to be interested in securing the transfer of Lewandowski, but Real have now taken a significant step towards winning the race for the forward.

Pini Zahavi, one of football’s best transfer agents, met with Jose Angel Sanchez and came to terms with the Real proxy.

Mundo Deportivo claim Lewandowski will sign a two-year contract, picking up a healthy wage bump with the option of extending the deal for a further year.

Lewandowski is desperate for a new challenge and hired super-agent Zahavi so as to engineer a move away from Germany.

Despite Lewandowski agreeing personal terms, Bayern still have to be convinced to sell their star goalscorer and the club have so far resisted any talk of a transfer.

The Poland international is Bayern’s talisman upfront and has scored 142 times in just 184 appearances for the Bundesliga giants.

Lewandowski has played in Germany for eight years and has won the German league five times in that period.

The 29-year-old is now keen to move onto a new challenge and is attracted to the idea of spearheading Real’s attack force.

But, the forward will have a battle on his hands to persuade Bayern to let him leave as he is under contract at the club until the summer of 2021.

Lewandowski would be a replacement for Karim Benzema who seems set to be sold by the Spanish giants after a poor season.
