Parkland Survivor Rejects Laura Ingraham Apology: “#ShutUpAndBeObjective” – Update

UPDATED with David Hogg response: Parkland high school shooting survivor David Hogg was not impressed with Fox News Channel star Laura Ingrahams apology for having snarked about his college-rejection tweet.

“#ShutUpAndBeObjective,” Hogg tweeted this afternoon, playing off Ingrahams previous suggestion that LeBron James should “shut up and dribble” after James criticized President Donald Trump.

Ingraham apologized after advertisers began pulling spots from her FNC primetime program, after Hogg launched a boycott of same advertisers following Ingrahams mocking of him.

In response to her apology, Hogg also retweeted one of his sister, Lauren Hoggs tweets in which she suggests the apology lacked a certain sincerity coming, as it did, after advertisers began to bail.

“*Waits till we boycott her advertisers to apologize* wow,” Lauren Hogg tweeted. “Hey @IngrahamAngle please just be a real journalist. Focus on the important stories and use your platform to help people not hurt them.”

David Hogg made clear to Ingraham he not will accept her apology until she denounces “the way your network has treated my friends and I in this fight” describing it as “mudslinging at children.”

David Hoggs tweets:

I 100% agree an apology in an effort just to save your advertisers is not enough. I will only accept your apology only if you denounce the way your network has treated my friends and I️ in this fight. Its time to love thy neighbor, not mudsling at children. https://t.co/H0yWs4zMGk

Previous: Fox News Channel primetime star Laura Ingraham has apologized for mocking Parkland high school shooting survivor David Hogg, after he said he had been rejected by several California colleges to which he had applied.

This after Rachel Rays Nutrish pulled its ads over Ingrahams remarks about the 17-year old survivor of this countrys worst mass shooting in a high school. TripAdviser did too, with reports Wayfair was about to follow suit. Ingrahams apology likely nips that movement in the bud, but it puts other TV pundits on notice, lest future trashings of school shooting survivors be brought to the attention of advertisers.

In a tweet, however, Ingraham credited Holy Week, not ad bailout, with inspiring her to apologize:

“Any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA —incl. @DavidHogg111,” Ingraham wrote. “On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland.”

She followed that with one claiming her show had been first to have Hogg on the air, and she invited him back for a “productive” discussion.

Ingraham stepped in it earlier this week, when she snarked about Hoggs remarks about his college application rejections.

“David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it,” Ingraham wrote. “(Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.)”

Hogg responded on Twitter, asking Ingraham for names of her “biggest advertisers,” saying he was “asking for a friend” adding, “#BoycottIngramAdverts”:

He quickly followed that with this:

Here are Ingrahams tweets of atonement:

Any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA —incl. @DavidHogg111. On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland. For the record, I believe my show was the first to feature David…(1/2)

… immediately after that horrific shooting and even noted how "poised" he was given the tragedy. As always, hes welcome to return to the show anytime for a productive discussion. WATCH: https://t.co/5wcd00wWpd (2/2)
