Syria Air Strikes Get Mixed Reaction From Hollywood & Media

Associated Press

The early reactions to the announcement that the US is bombing Syria in retaliation for chemical weapons use against civilians show a mixed bag of Hollywood, politicians and media types. Reactions have been split so far, reflecting the narrow camps that divide the country.

Among the reactions so far:

The way @maddow responded to Trumps attack on Syria is a shining an example of why our free press, and those who represent it, must be defended with our lives. She is our best. She is brilliant. She is honest. She has integrity. And she has a soul. Im grateful to hear her.

If Trump rushed tonights Syria strikes to squash todays PR nightmare he should be tried for war crimes. #SyriaStrikes

Tonight @POTUS@realDonaldTrump announced precision strikes against Syria in response to their use of chemical weapons—and he asked us to pray. 1/3

When Obama bombed Syria for its use of chemical weapons, GOP and Fox screamed it was an impeachable offense.

Now that Trump does it, they say nothing.

Its NOT an impeachable offense. But its obscene how readily Fox and the GOP lie to their base, changing position on a whim.

Attacks such as this on another country without congressional authorization are unconstitutional, and they push the United States closer to what could be an interminable, all-out conflict in Syria. My full statement:https://t.co/IQMGTbcwiT

ICYMI: Instead of protecting our system of checks and balances by holding him accountable, the Senate may introduce a proposal to let Trump launch more attacks like the Syria attack without their approval. https://t.co/7J2yqS70DC

Chemical attacks in Syria are horrifying, and a clear violation of international law. The world must hold Assad accountable for his violence against the Syrian people – and the US should be part of a planned, coordinated multilateral effort.(1/2)

The America I love, the America I have fought for and defended, and the America I deeply believe in stands for humanity and stands up against evil. Tonight, @realDonaldTrump is sending a strong message to #Assad and his backers. Enough is enough. God bless our troops. #Syria
