A new development has been made in Summer Zervos defamation lawsuit against Donald Trump. The former Apprentice contestant, who claims that Trump sexually assaulted her twice in 2007, has issued a subpoena for footage from the reality TV competition as part of the suit.
According to the Associated Press, Zervos lawyer, Mariann Wang said Wednesday that the subpoena is for material from the show of Zervos or Trump talking about her or discussing other female contestants in a sexual or inappropriate way.
The subpoena not only seeks video footage, but also emails, financial records, audio recordings and other documents.
In 2007, Zervos claims that during a lunch meeting at Trumps New York office, Trump kissed her twice without consent. The same year, at the Beverly Hills Hotel, she claims that Trump kissed her, grabbed her breasts and “thrust his genitals” at her.
The statute of limitations on the misconduct charges has run out, but after Trump said Zervos claims were “total fiction” and “all false stuff,” the former contestant filed a defamation suit for being called a liar.
In March, a Manhattan judge ruled that Zervos could proceed with her defamation case against Trump. Judge Jennifer Schecter denied a motion made by Trumps lawyers to either dismiss the case or issue a continuance until the president leaves office.
