Saudi aid agency performs 27 surgical operations in Yemen

JEDDAH: The medical team funded by King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid and Relief (KSRelief) performed 27 surgical operations, in addition to examining 50 other cases, on May 2 and 3 at Marib hospitals in Yemen.

On the first day, the medical team conducted 13 surgical operations that varied between tissue damage of the leg with ankle joint exposure, disfigurement of the nose, scar and skin contraction in the corner of the mouth, loss of part of the ear, three nasal cartilage operations and fevers, two operations for elbow fractures, and gunshot wounds in the face and spine.

All these operations were performed at Marib Hospital, in addition to a hand nerve injury resulting from a gunshot that was treated at Cree Hospital.

On the second day, there was a total of 14 surgical operations, 12 performed at Marib Hospital and the remaining two at Cree Hospital.

In a statement, the director of Cree Hospital, Dr. Luai Mohammed Sulaiman, pointed out that the level of medical services provided by the hospital had improved thanks to the support of the KSRelief center.

“I have worked in the health sector in Marib since 89 and I find the health services that are offered today better than before, the people of Marib have been moving to seek treatment in the other governorates. Now the hospitals in Marib have been receiving patients from all regions of Yemen.”
