RIYADH: Summer break this year will be more fun-filled for students and families as the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH), in cooperation with the Tourism Development Councils (TDCs) and municipal authorities in all the provinces, has lined up more than 120 tourism festivals.

These offer quality entertainment during the long summer vacation, which began with the advent of Ramadan and continues until the Hajj holidays.

Majed Alshadeed, a spokesman at the SCTH, said: “The commission continues its efforts for the summer season, making it more entertaining, and gearing up with the preparation for a number of tourist sites and events, stimulating tourism trips through media campaigns and marketing.

“Working to this end, the SCTH announced more than 120 varied tourist festivals during this summer season, which is spread over all regions and includes more than 1,200 activities and events.

“We expect that these programs and events will attract more than 13 million visitors this year, in addition to providing more than 8,200 temporary job opportunities for the young in organizing festivals in various regions,” Abdullah Al-Murshed, SCTH vice president for marketing and programs, said.
