LONDON: Four members of a terror cell with links to Iran were sentenced to death at the Saudi Arabian Specialized Criminal Court on Thursday after being convicted of a string of offences.

The four have been convicted of charges of conspiring with Iran, training in camps run by Irans Revolutionary Guard, learning how to use weapons and explosives, as well as training to fight.

The cell was also found guilty of undergoing training in how to avoid detection by the authorities and how to attract new recruits, Saudi state TV channel Al-Ekhbariya reported.

Other convictions included recruiting new members and facilitating their travel to Iran via a travel agency, and planning to form other cells with the intention of destabilizing the Kingdom.

The individuals were also found guilty of plotting to assassinate senior figures.

The court sentenced the four to death, ordered the closure of the travel agency, and the withdrawal of its license.
