Pakistan and the GCC agree to enhance trade relations

JEDDAH: The Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, Khan Hasham bin Saddique, agreed with Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, secretary-general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in Riyadh to enhance trade relations when they met on July 2.
Welcoming the ambassador, the GCC secretary-general acknowledged the importance of Pakistan-GCC relations.
Al-Zayani also expressed the GCC's readiness to resume the dialogue with Pakistan for the conclusion of the Pakistan-GCC Free Trade Agreement.
Saddique briefed the secretary-general on Pakistan's trade and economic potential, particularly its geographical proximity and its growing role and importance in regional connectivity, as well as the presence of the country's largest expatriate population in the GCC countries. He also highlighted the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which has further added to the attractiveness of Pakistans trade and investment potential.
The ambassador and the GCC secretary-general agreed to undertake mutual efforts in the coming months to enhance Pakistan-GCC ties in all spheres. They especially agreed to enhance their trade ties commensurate with their long-established strategic ties in the region. The secretary-general also expressed his desire to visit Pakistan soon.
