JEDDAH: At the direction of Saudi Arabias Attorney General Sheikh Saud Al-Mojeb, the security bodies succeeded in arresting the young men, Tambak, accused of abusing children sexually and deceiving them using PlayStation video games.
A source from the Attorney Generals office said this came as a part of the role the office plays in protecting the society, holding accountable those who break the legislation and referring them to the judicial system to apply the right punishment.
It was also implemented as the general prosecutors office believes in what it has been entrusted with by a person who brought criminal proceedings against any other person, if evidence of misconduct was proven.
The General Attorneys office had recently monitored all abuses and prosecuted those who were responsible to preserve the security and safety of the society.
Article 6 of the Anti-Harassment Law states that if the victim is a child or a person with special needs, the harasser can face up to five years of prison and a fine up to SR300,000 ($79,984).
Saudis expressed their outrage over this heinous crime against these innocent children, calling on local authorities to take necessary actions against the offenders.
“Dear child molester, always remember that you are targeting a cohesive society that will not tolerate such actions and a strict law that will deter you,” said social media influencer Naifco.
While others referred to the recent suicide incident committed by a Saudi child whose father blamed the Blue Whale Challenge game. “Did you get the idea? There are no games that lead to suicide and there are no groups and challenges! These are online gangs that have forums for electronic games to reach children for sexual exploitation. This destroys the child and pushes them to commit suicide. And the parents blame the blue whale for fear of scandal!!” Tweeted entrepreneur and co-partner of Crown Ventures Rakan Al-Eidi.
One tweet stood out from the rest and has been retweeted several times by Saudi Tweeps, an app that helps parents monitor their childrens activities while playing video games
One of the best solutions to make your child strong, Saudi public figure Abdulmajeed Al-Fouzan tweeted, is be your sons friend, consult him, hear from him, give them support and motivation and blame them if they make a mistake and be by their side if they fall down.
“This is the best educational approach a father can adopt,” he concluded.
