JEDDAH: Prince Saud bin Naif, governor of the Eastern Province and chairman of its Tourism Development Council, will inaugurate on Sunday a number of Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) projects in Al-Ahsa governorate.
The projects include the restoration, rehabilitation and development of heritage sites and buildings.
The inauguration will celebrate the inclusion of Al-Ahsa Oasis as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and will witness the inauguration of the construction stages of Al-Ahsa Museum.
Earlier, SCTH President Prince Sultan bin Salman said: “Al-Ahsa is the most deserving site represented this year at the UNESCO conference. It is a site that comes from history, 5,000 years of history as an oasis.”
SCTH aims to prepare a solid platform for tourists to make their experience unforgettable by preparing tour guides, tour operators and security systems.
The tourism commission is establishing different companies, including Saudi Heritage Hospitality Co., in which there are lots of heritage houses to be renovated.
