Mother tortures babies to extort money from husband

Dubai – The Saudi Ministry of Labour and Social Development has saved two baby twins from their mother, after videos of torture went viral on social media.

The videos taken by the mother show the twin baby girls, who seem like 9 or 10 months old, crying while mother slaps them, drops them from a height to the floor until they bleed.

In another video the mother tries to choke one of the girls and telling her “today I will kill you”. Many in Saudi Arabia went on twitter and started sharing the videos of the mother tagging the Saudi ministry of Labour and Social Development, and different officials with a hashtag saying “mother torturing her girl”.

The spokesman of the ministry, Khalid Aba Khail, also tweeted that the Centre of family violence was notified and looking for the babies, urging anyone who knows about them to call the hotline 1919.

A search by civilians on social media platforms started and soon located the person who originally posted the videos and made him call the number.

Mohanad Al Hashdi, a Yemani citizen, who knows the fathers family in Yemen was behind posting the videos.

He posted the videos on youtube saying they were taken by Somali women living in Saudi Arabia, and these twins are 6-months old. The mother is a Somali married to a Yemeni, and the couple were living in Saudi Arabia. They are now divorced and the man does not support her. She took the videos herself torturing the babies and sent them to her formers husbands father in Yemen so he can push him to send her money.

Mohanad in these videos was seen pleading for help of Saudis to save the babies as their grandfather cant travel from Yemen to Saudi Arabia. In a few hours the spokesman of the Ministry Khalid Aba Khail tweeted that the twins were located in Jeddah, and taken away from the mother.

The twins were hospitalised by the ministry and later released after checkups. They were handed to the fathers relatives.

“The mother and father are divorced, this is clearly a case of domestic violence, the babies will never be returned to the mother, and we are looking into the fathers side of the family to take the twins,” the ministry spokesmen told Alekhbariya TV in an interview.
