RIYADH: Saudi Arabias paralympians have joined the International Special Olympics in celebrating its Golden Jubilee on Friday by illuminating two landmark sites in the kingdom.
The paralympians have marked their 50th anniversary by lighting in red the Riyadh-based Kingdom and Palm Towers.
Under the slogan: “Illumination for Integration,” the Saudi Paralympics have joined more than 170 tourist and archaeological landmarks lit in red to commemorate the anniversary.
The President of the Saudi Special Olympics Committee, Maher bin Saad Al-Jaded, said he was happy and proud that the Kingdom is taking part commemorating the launch of one of the most important humanitarian movements, for people with disabilities, in the world.
“Saudi Arabias participation in this day is a continuation for our wise leadership in supporting our children with special needs in all fields, including sports, by sponsoring more than 20 olympic sports events for special needs every year.”
