Saudi crown prince, Pakistan army chief discuss regional security at Mina meeting

ISLAMABAD: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistans Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa discussed wide-ranging issues of mutual interest, including regional security, Pakistan military media wing ISPR said in statement on Wednesday.

The Saudi crown prince invited Gen. Bajwa for a meeting followed by dinner at Mina on Tuesday night.

Gen. Bajwa is currently in Saudi Arabia for Hajj.

“Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his strong optimism about success of Pakistan in defeating challenges at hand,” the ISPR statement said.

It added: “The Crown Prince also expressed his best wishes and support to the newly-elected government.”

Gen. Bajwa thanked the crown pPrince for his best wishes and support for Pakistan.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy close cooperation in diverse fields, including defense cooperation.

Last week, on Aug. 15, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman phoned Prime Minister Imran Khan and congratulated him on his election victory.

The crown prince, while taking to Imran Khan, said Pakistan has enormous trade and economic opportunities and his country is keen to make investment in Pakistan and strengthen bilateral trade relations.
