It’s cooling down in UAE, but seas will be rough with up to 9-foot waves

Seas will be rough, kicked up by fresh north-westerly to north-easterly winds with top speeds of about 50 km/h

Abu Dhabi / Dubai: Weathermen predict a further drop in temperatures, specially over western areas from Sunday.

Meanwhile, fresh north-westerly to north-easterly winds with top speeds of about 50 km/h could kick up to 9-foot waves offshore, weathermen warned.

The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has raised the yellow alert on the northern coast of the United Arab Emirates.

"The region will be under the extension of the Red Sea low pressure accompanied with a western upper air trough. Large amounts of clouds will flow from north and central Saudi Arabia towards the country at intervals," the bureau reported.

Forecasters warned that the sea will be rough with wave height of up to 9 feet offshore. There is a chance of towering clouds forming with fresh north westerly to north easterly wind.

For the rest of the day, it will be partly cloudy to cloudy, accompanied by some convective rainy clouds starting from the country's west and then extending to scattered areas of the country.

The winds will be moderate in general, refreshing times with clouds activity, causing blowing dust over the exposed areas.

An orange alert was also raised in north-western shores of the UAE on Saturday as fresh winds kicked up rough sea in the Arabian Gulf.

NCM reported heavy rain over Dalma on Saturday night, reducing horizontal visibility.
