France, UAE, Egypt, others support prosecution of accused in Khashoggi case

The French Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that the referral of the accused in the killing of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi to the judiciary is a step in the right direction.

The comments which were reported by Al Arabiya news channels correspondent in Paris, come on the heels of the press conference held this afternoon by Saudi Arabias Public Prosecution on the investigation into the Khashoggi killing and call for the death penalty against those involved. Read more

In a related development, Saudi Arabias foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir held a press conference on Thursday evening in the Saudi capital Riyadh to discuss the findings and judicial rulings issued by the Saudi Public Prosecution in relation to the Khashoggi killing.

UAE, Egypt, Bahrain and others renew support for Saudi measures

Other countries from the region – Egypt, Bahrain, Palestinian Presidency, The Arab League and the GCC, came forward in support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and praised the statement of the Saudi Public Prosecution on the Khashoggi case.

The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the findings released by Saudi Arabias public prosecutor on the investigation of the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation valued the steps taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the case as well as the measures taken to hold accountable those behind the murder.

“The measures taken corroborate the fact that Saudi Arabia will remain a state of values, and justice that respects the principles of law and justice," said the statement.

The Ministry reaffirms that the findings confirm the continued and painstaking follow-up undertaken by the Saudi institutions concerned to ensure the safety of its citizens and update the public opinion and the international community on the facts related to the case.

While reiterating its solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all the measures it is taking, the UAE reaffirms its rejection of any attempts to politicise or internatioalise the case in a way that threatens the Kingdoms sovereignty and stability.

Transparency in investigations commended by OIC

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) praised the statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabias Public Prosecution regarding the death of the citizen Jamal Khashoggi.

The OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen said in a statement that the Saudi Prosecution has clearly answered the outstanding questions, charged the responsible parties, identified the roles of those involved in this crime and announced all that with transparency.

He called for putting this case within its criminal framework and refraining from politicizing it, so that justice takes its normal course.

GCC secretary general lauds statement

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani lauded the statement issued by the Public Prosecutor regarding the murder of Saudi citizen Jamal Khashoggi.

He quoted the public prosecutors statement as confirming the Kingdoms adherence to competing the necessary procedures to continue investigations in this criminal case away from politization sought by some biased circles.

Al-Zayani said in a statement that the firm measures taken by the concerned Saudi authorities is yet another evidence of the keenness of the Kingdom to apply the principles of transparency and accountability in their capacity as a firm approach to unveil the details of the crime and prove that fair justice is the only platform to enforce law and bring about justice.

He said the Public Prosecutors statement was keen to inform the public opinion of the progress of investigations and their outcome.

Egypt highly appreciates action in Khashoggi case

The Arab Republic of Egypt highly appreciated the actions taken by Saudi Arabia pertaining the case of the killing of the Saudi citizen, journalist Jamal Khashoggi, expressing the hope that all concerned parties shall abide by the current course of the case away from politicization.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued on Thursday that it had followed with great interest the announcement by the judicial authorities in the Kingdom today of the results of investigations into the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which highlighted the seriousness of the Kingdom and its transparency in clarifying the truth.

Egypt reiterated, in its statement, its full confidence in the Kingdoms investigation authorities and that its investigations were carried out within a framework of impartiality and credibility.

Bahrain reiterates strong support

The Kingdom of Bahrain reiterated its strong support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and said its actions on the issue of the citizen Jamal Khashoggi, which was clarified by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Attorney General.

The Bahrain statement stressed that these steps reflect the accountability and commitment to the punishment of all those involved in this issue, full justice and a fair and transparent interpretation of the facts.

Bahrain also reaffirmed its total rejection of the politicization, internationalization or exploitation of the issue and the accusation against Saudi Arabia and the violation of its sovereignty, security and stability, and attempts to divide the entire Islamic world. It affirmed that Saudi Arabia is the basis of stability and peace in the region and the world and to achieve sustainable development, prosperity and stability for the peoples of the region and the world.

Jordan commends results of investigations

The Jordanian government stressed the importance of the Saudi Public Prosecutions announcement to charge a number of detainees in the case of the killing of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Government of Jordan stressed, in an official statement, that this announcement is an important step towards achieving justice through the investigations results announced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to clarify the full truth into the circumstances of this case, achieve justice and hold those involved accountable.

Djibouti commends results of investigations

The Republic of Djibouti renewed its supportive stance to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the measures taken to disclose the circumstances of the death of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

It commended in a statement the results of the investigations announced by the Saudi Public Prosecutor, reflecting the Kingdoms keenness to clarify the facts transparently and impartially, hold those involved accountable and achieve justice.

Djibouti also stressed the importance of let justice prevail and take its course in this regard and reiterated its refusal to politicize the case or exploit it to slander the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has the leading role in maintaining peace and security in the region and the world.

Arab League, GCC and Palestinian President endorse Kingdom stand

The Arab League said: Saudi Arabias measures show its interest in uncovering those involved in killing Khashoggi.

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council praised the statement of the Saudi Public Prosecution on the Khashoggi case. Zayani said the statement by the Saudi Public Prosecution confirms the Kingdom's keenness to investigate away from politicization.

The Palestinian Presidency is a statement said: “We trust in the integrity and independence of the Saudi judiciary and reject politicization of Khashoggis case.”
