James Gunn-Produced Brightburn Trailer Released At Brazils Comic-Con Experience

The first look trailer for the James Gunn-produced horror film Brightburn was unveiled today at Comic-Con Brazil. The H Collective and Sony Pictures label Screen Gems film is directed by David Yarovesky (The Hive) and written by Mark Gunn & Brian Gunn.

The film stars Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Pitch Perfect), David Denman (13 Hours, Power Rangers), Jackson A. Dunn (Shameless), Matt Jones (Mom, Home) and Meredith Hagner (Younger, Set it Up). The premise: What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, proved to be something far more sinister?

James Gunn produces, with executive producers Mark Gunn, Brian Gunn, Dan Clifton, Simon Hatt, and Nic Crawley. The H Collective fully financed the feature and produced alongside Gunns company, Troll Court Entertainment. Screen Gems will release the film wide theatrically in the US over Memorial Day weekend on May 24, 2019, with day and date release in most international territories.

The film was originally scheduled for release last week, but Sony bumped it to May. The film marks the first significant project from James Gunn since his removal from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise after a series of years-old, bad taste joke tweets were revived by conservative media, causing an uproar in some quarters.

Earlier this year, The H Collective entered into a deal with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) to distribute and market films globally, with Brightburn being the first picture under the partnership.

“We are proud to debut this trailer first to the fans! Its even more poignant as we celebrate the one-year anniversary of The H Collective,” said The H Collective CEO Nic Crawley. “Weve assembled a remarkably talented team with James and Dave, bringing this project to life has been nothing short of fantastic. Were extremely proud of our partnership with Sony and look forward to sharing this film with audiences around the world.”

The H Collective, which launched in October 2017, is a global film finance, production, marketing and distribution company producing and financing a diversified slate of high-quality films including horror, action, comedy and franchise IP. The H Collective recently acquired the xXx franchise with Vin Diesels One Race Films, and are in pre-production on the franchises fourth installment.
