JAIPUR: In an embarrassing development for the Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government, state Congress chief and deputy CM Sachin Pilot on Saturday slammed its handling of the infant deaths in Kotas JK Lon Hospital and demanded accountability. As many as 107 infants have died in the hospital in the past 35 days.
After paying a visit to the Kota hospital, Pilot said the state government could not escape responsibility by pointing fingers at the previous government as “this is not a small incident, but a heart-wrenching one”. “I think our response to the entire episode could have been more sensitive and more compassionate. After 13 months in government, it may not serve any purpose (for us) to keep pointing towards the previous governments wrongdoings or misdeeds,” he said.
He said, “As many as 107 children have died. It is not stopping. I have met some of the bereaved family members. I have no words to express their grief and hurt.
