UNHCHR step interference, government to blame for this mess

NEW DELHI: Congress on Tuesday said it was “unwarranted interference” on the part of the UN high commissioner for Human Rights to file an application in the Supreme Court against the Citizenship Amendment Act but asserted that the government had itself to blame for “this mess”.
Senior Congress member Ahmed Patel said, “No doubt that UNs intervening application is a case of unwarranted interference in our matters. But who is to blame for this mess? The government of India for creating a window for such interference by enacting a law which breaches global standards on human rights”.
