BJP writes to EC against Digvijaya for pressurising voters ahead of RS polls

BHOPAL: Amid high profile political drama which unfolded in Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has written a letter to chief election commissioner (CEC) on Wednesday alleging that Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh has violated model code of conduct by trying to pressurise the 16 MLAs lodged in a hotel in Bengaluru ahead of Rajya Sabha elections in the state. The BJP has demanded appropriate action against the Congress leader.
"Digvijay Singh who is candidate for Rajya Sabha election for Madhya Pradesh, has gone to Bengaluru along with nine cabinet ministers and others to influence and pressurise the 16 MLAs from Madhya Pradesh legislative assembly to vote in his favour in the Rajya Sabha election, which is due on 26 March 2020," read the letter by the polling agent of BJP candidate Sumer SIngh Solanki and BJP legal cell member, Shantilal Lodha.
The complaint further stated, "The 16 MLAs are camping in Bengaluru (lodged at Ramada hotel) at the moment. Digvijay Singh tried to meet all 16 MLAs in order to pressurise them to vote in his favour in Rajya Sabha election but they refused to meet him. After this, Digvijay Singh along with the ministers, staged dharna and tried to create law and order situation for the local administration."
