Owen Hargreaves believes Antonio Conte‘s genius gives Chelsea a chance against Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Chelsea were handed a nightmare draw for the knockout stages and will have to travel to the Nou Camp in the second leg.

The Blues’ form has been inconsistent this season and Conte recently conceded the defending Premier League champions were out of the current title race.

Barcelona is a tough ask for Chelsea, but Hargreaves believes Conte can see them through.

‘Juventus are not the same as they’ve been in the past,’ Hargreaves said on BT Sport.

Tottenham I believe could get through against Juventus.

‘I feel sorry for Chelsea fans, obviously Barcelona that’s the difficult one.

‘If you’re Manchester United you’re very happy, Liverpool [too], Manchester City will be the happiest of everyone with Basel, that’s a brilliant draw for them.

‘For Chelsea’s it’s really tough. Conte, with the defensive record and tactics he has he can get a result against Barcelona.’

Tottenham were also handed a tough draw against Italian champions Juventus, but the rest of the English sides were delighted with their clashes.

Liverpool drew Porto, Manchester United got Sevilla and Manchester City will take on Basel.

Jermaine Jenas expects at least three of the five English teams to go through into the quarter-finals and is confident Chelsea can join them if Conte sorts out their defence.

He said: ‘Definitely three, but then it comes down to what Spurs can do against Juve and Chelsea against Barca.

‘Agree with Owen, the Barca tie is a very tough one. But, I do believe it’s one if Chelsea can sort out their defensive issues they could cause an upset.’
