Chelsea have agreed a deal with Newcastle United to send starlet Kenedy on loan until the end of the season to get Premier League experience, according to reports.

The Brazilian, who caused controversy with his comments about the Chinese while on Chelsea’s pre-season tour, had been expected to leave on loan in the summer but Antonio Conte vetoed the plans.

However, Kenedy has been used significantly less than expected this season, making just three appearances for the Blues – all of which have come in the Carabao Cup.

And now the Daily Mail report that Newcastle have struck a deal to sign the former Fluminense man in January, and will pay a loan fee to get him for the next six months.

The versatile Kenedy is capable of playing almost anywhere on the left flank, though his playing time has been hampered by the presence of Marcos Alonso.

Summer signing Davide Zappacosta has also been used at left wing-back ahead of Kenedy this season, though he was afforded a rare run out against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Newcastle have a very small budget to spend in January and Rafa Benitez knows he must rely on loan signings and bargain buys.

The Magpies previously brought Christian Atsu to St James’ Park on loan from Chelsea before making the deal permanent.

Reports earlier this season claimed Conte had lashed out at Kenedy for yawning during a post-match team meeting following Chelsea’s disastrous loss to Roma, and the Italian will lose little sleep over the Brazilian’s looming exit.
