Paul Pogba believes David Beckham represents the most iconic No.7 in Manchester United’s history.

The former England captain spent 11 trophy-laden years at Old Trafford, inheriting the famous jersey from Eric Cantona when the Frenchman retired in 1997.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bryan Robson and George Best have also sported the famous shirt, along with less illustrious names from the club’s recent past such as Memphis Depay and Michael Owen.

Pogba, who is making the No.6 shirt his own since returning to the club from Juventus, is in no doubt over his favourtie United No.7.

‘His style of playing, his goals – he’s iconic in Manchester,’ said the 24-year-old. ‘When you look at the No7 you put his name straight away – David Beckham.

‘The way he had control of the ball, his free kicks, his passing.

‘If he wanted to pass the ball there, you knew it was going to go there – so he’s a legend.’
