Jose Mourinho has blocked Scott McTominay from leaving Manchester United on loan in the new year, according to reports.
Lancaster-born midfielder McTominay is rated as one of the brightest young prospects at Old Trafford and signed his first professional contract with the club in 2013.
He was associated with the Manchester United academy at the age of five and spent 14 years in the youth system before earning his first-team debut at the end of last season.

McTominay, 20, featured in games against Arsenal and Crystal Palace last term and has added another four appearances to his name during the start of the 2017-18 campaign.
With first-team opportunities understandably limited at the Theatre of Dreams, the midfielder has been linked with a loan move in January with Rangers and a number of Championship clubs interested.
However, according to the Daily Mirror, Mourinho has blocked any loan spell away from the club as he wants the youngster to continue to develop under his guidance.
Mourinho praised McTominay and fellow academy graduate Alex Tuanzebe following United’s Carabao Cup victory over Swansea City earlier in the season.
‘Scott did very well, strong in the midfield,’ Mourinho said. ‘Axel started maybe a little shaky, but then we got stability and he came into it.’
