Chelsea’s board have held a meeting to discuss the signing of Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports.
The 20-year-old has been in impressive form for the Bundesliga club this season with four goals and four assists in 12 appearances so far.
The Jamaican winger has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Barcelona, while Manchester United were also linked earlier this year.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea sent scouts to watch Bailey in Leverkusen’s 2-0 victory over Stuttgart on Friday.
The report also claims that on the same day, Chelsea’s hierarchy got together to discuss the prospect of signing Bailey in the upcoming transfer window in January.
Earlier this week, reports claimed that the Premier League champions were preparing a £20 million offer for the midfielder.

As part of the deal, Chelsea are reportedly considering the option of loaning Bailey back to Leverkusen for the remainder of the campaign.
Bailey is a regular on Leverkusen’s right flank and his pace would add another dimension to Chelsea’s attack, which failed to break down West Ham in their 1-0 defeat at the London Stadium on Saturday.
