Chelsea are targeting a £15 million deal for CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, according to reports.
The 21-year-old is already a regular in CSKA’s midfield and was linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer.
Last month, it was even confirmed that Arsene Wenger had personally asked for Golovin’s progress to be monitored by an agent based in Russia.
But according to The Sun, Chelsea are keen to secure a deal for the midfielder in the January transfer window.
The Premier League champions would also consider allowing Golovin to remain at CSKA for the rest of the season on loan.
Golovin is unlikely to be able to immediately challenge for a regular role in Antonio Conte’s midfield.
But Chelsea would like to agree a deal with CSKA before next summer’s World Cup as Golovin is set to feature for Russia and should he impress, his price will only rise.
