Pep Guardiola has admitted Manchester City cannot rely on Vincent Kompany to remain fit after the centre-back went off during the win over Manchester United.
The last 18 months have been an injury hell for Kompany who has struggled to stay match fit for a sustained period of time.
Kompany returned to full fitness at the end of November, but was substituted after an hour against Manchester United on Sunday.

It is a worrying sight for City fans and Guardiola issued an injury update on the Belgian after the game.
He said: ‘Kompany is injured. We wait and see.

Nicolas Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala would be the only two fit senior centre-backs with a hectic Christmas schedule already underway.

City need to perform over Christmas to maintain their iron grip at the top of the table.
Eleven points separate them and second-place United, but Guardiola’s team cannot afford to take their foot off the gas pedal just yet.
