Thursday on MSNBC’s”MTP Daily,” network host Katy Tur said President Donald Trump did not want to be bipartisan because “he likes to be fighting.”
Tur said, “He doesn’t work well being the good guy. If Donald Trump wanted to come in and be the good guy, bridge the gap, he could have done it in January. He had enough room. Even after 2016 and after what many felt was a totally outrageous campaign that sunk to new lows, that was insulting for so many Americans. He still could have come out in January and said I’m going to start with an infrastructure bill. I’m going to leave all that behind me. Work with Democrats. Republicans would have come running because it’s a Republican president and he would have started with something bipartisan, setting the tone going forward. He would have been more popular he had done that, but Donald Trump doesn’t like to be liked. He likes to be fighting.”
