Gylfi Sigurdsson scored a stunning goal to put Everton 2-1 ahead against Swansea, but he resisted the temptation to celebrate wildly.

The Icelandic playmaker instead prioritised showing his former club some respect.

Midway through the second half of the Premier League contest at Goodison Park, Sigurdsson was fed the ball by Wayne Rooney near the edge of the Swansea box. He cut inside onto his right foot and unleashed a powerful curling effort beyond the reach of Lukas Fabianski and into the far corner of the net.

The 28-year-old spent three years at Swansea before completing a £45million move to Everton over the summer.

5 – Gylfi Sigurdsson has been directly involved in five goals in his last seven Premier League games (3 goals, 2 assists), after failing to score or provide an assist in his first 10 this season. Kickstart.
