Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian is at the top of Arsenal’s transfer shortlist for the summer, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to bring in defensive reinforcements ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, with the Gunners worrying over Hector Bellerin’s future at the Emirates.
Bellerin remains firmly on Barcelona’s radar and Arsenal have been forced to draw up a list of possible replacements for the Spaniard.
Goal suggests Darmian has become a serious target for Arsenal and the north London giants are confident of landing the Italy international.

It’s claimed that Wenger remains an admirer of Darmian despite the defender’s unconvincing three-year spell at Old Trafford.

Darmian has only managed 13 appearances in all competitions for United this term and Jose Mourinho is open to selling the Italian.
The 28-year-old is tied into a deal with the Red Devils until the summer of 2019.
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has urged his former club to fend off the advances of Barca for Bellerin this summer.
‘I’d be amazed if Arsenal sold Bellerin. He’s still a young player, he’s still learning and he wants to learn,’ he told talkSPORT.
‘I still think defensively he has to get better, but he can get better.

“He’s not had the greatest of seasons and I think he’d be the first to admit that, but I do rate him a lot
‘I wouldn’t take £50 million for him, because you’ve still got to replace him in the team.’
