Roku Says Active Accounts Exceed 27 Million

Roku said its active accounts now exceed 27 million, representing 40% year over year growth.

The company, which makes streaming players and licenses its technology to television manufacturers, said usage also rose dramatically over the holiday quarter. Users logged 7.3 billion hours in the quarter, up about 68% year-over-year.

Roku is looking to demonstrate momentum for its streaming platform as the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show gets this week in Las Vegas.

“Strong active account growth and accelerating streaming hours point to consumers growing enthusiasm for streaming, making Roku Americas largest and fastest growing TV streaming distribution platform,” said Roku CEO Anthony Wood.

Roku will report final operating metrics as well as fourth quarter and full year 2018 financial results in February. The company will provide a 2019 outlook at that time.
