Arsenal are considering challenging Real Madrid to sign Chelsea defender David Luiz in the January transfer window, according to reports.
The future of Luiz has become the subject of speculation after a falling out with Blues manager Antonio Conte earlier this season. Coupled with the fact he has just 18 months left on his contract, there are suggestions Chelsea could be open to selling him in January.
The Daily Star report that Arsene Wenger, aware that he needs to strengthen his defence with Per Mertesacker retiring in the summer, is considering a £30million bid.

Should Arsenal show serious interest, they could find themselves up against Real Madrid who have also been linked with the Brazilian. As have Bayern Munich and Juventus.
Meanwhile, The Telegraph report that Luiz is desperately trying to recover from a knee injury that Antonio Conte has described as ‘serious’.

The 30-year-old believes he could be ready to start running properly this week which could allow him to return to action during the January transfer window.
Should he do so he’d give himself a better chance of finding a new club if a move is to happen.
