Phil Toran/Verve
Literary agency Verve has launched a Publishing division, hiring InkWell Managements Liz Parker to oversee it. She will bring along her roster of upmarket and literary fiction, and sociopolitical, narrative and platform-driven nonfiction clients, and also service Verves clients who have books in the marketplace. She also will help source intellectual property for Verve clients to develop.
Parker has been a literary agent at InkWell since June 2015. Before that she publishing director at Counterpoint and Soft Skull Press in Berkeley, CA, and a literary and film scout for Maria B. Campbell Associates. She started out as an editorial assistant at Viking Penguin.
“We are excited to welcome Liz Parker to the Verve family,” the Verve partners said in announcing the hire. “When she told us that her guiding principle is to make unheard voices
heard, we knew we had found someone who shares both our personal and our professional values. Lizs addition will allow us to represent new kinds of people and stories and gives us yet another means to bring those stories out into the world.”
Said Parker: “I have long admired Verves dynamism and robust approach to the market
and am thrilled to be joining the team. Their existing client base and the markets hunger
for IP makes this new department a logical and strategic expansion.”
