Coronavirus: India temporarily suspends visas to France, Germany & Spain nationals; issues advisory

NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday suspended all regular visas (including e-visas) granted to nationals of France, Germany and Spain on or before March 11, 2020, where these foreigners have not yet entered the country. Regular visas (including e Visas) granted to all foreign nationals who have travel history to these countries on or after February 1, 2020, and who have not yet entered India also stands suspended, a government statement issued after the Cabinet Secretary held a meeting to review Coronavirus situation here on Tuesday.
India has “strongly advised” its citizens to refrain from travelling to France, Spain and Germany.
Indias Bureau of Immigration had last week issued an order saying: “All regular (sticker) visas / e-visa (including visa on arrival or VoA for Japan and South Korea) granted to nationals of Italy, Iran, South Korea, Japan and issued on or before March 3, 2020, and who have not yet entered India, stand suspended with immediate effect. Such foreign nationals may not enter India from any air, land or seaport. Those requiring to travel to India due to compelling reasons may seek fresh visa from the nearest Indian embassy/consulate,” it says.
Regular (sticker) visa / e-visa granted to all foreign nationals who have travelled to China, Iran, Italy, South Korea and Japan on or after February 1, 2020, and have not yet entered India from any air, land, seaport are also suspended.
