PM Modi lauds contribution of shopkeepers amid nationwide lockdown

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the significant contribution of small shopkeepers amid the nationwide lockdown and said the entire country will remember their role in maintaining the social system in this time of crisis.
In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister said he understands how challenging it is to follow social distancing and ensure that others follow it too.
"Small shopkeepers have contributed significantly in maintaining the entire social system. The society and the country will always remember their contribution," he tweeted.

The Prime Minister said that citizens are able to follow the lockdown rules due to the contribution of several sections of the society.
"Let us imagine what would happen if these small traders and shopkeepers did not risk their own lives to deliver the necessities of everyday life," he said.
