Congress accuses Yogi Adityanath of playing politics over migrant workers by delaying buses

AGRA: High political drama was witnessed at the UP-Rajasthan border on Tuesday as scores of Congress leaders from UP were detained after they staged a protest over state governments denial of permission for the entry of buses, arranged by the partys general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi, for ferrying stranded UP migrants to their destinations.
The leaders accused the Yogi government of playing politics and claimed that 500 buses, parked near Fatehpur Sikri along the Rajasthan border, were not being allowed entry.
State Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu, who was also at the border, said that the government was purposely delaying the vehicles due to vested interests. He was detained along with former CLP leader Pradeep Mathur, AICC secretary Vivek Bansal and Mukesh Dhangar, by Agra police after they staged protest at the border and raised slogans against the government.
Former CLP leader Mathur told TOI that the poor people of the state have been betrayed by the BJP government. "This government is anti-poor and anti-migrants. They dont want to help the poor and are only pretending to doing so," said Mathur, adding that they have been trying to arrange the entry of buses into UP since morning but top government officials were only busy issuing "worthless" letters to delay matters.
Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi shot another letter to UP government on Tuesday, saying, "I want to appeal to the UP government once again that this is the time to display sensitivity. Please grant us permission so that we can proceed".
She further stated, "UP's migrant labourers are worried. We can together overcome this challenge. We request you to grant permission so that our buses can reach Noida and Ghaziabad via Agra".
